The Mi Mix Fold has two displays: a large, 8.01-inch foldable AMOLED display when open and a 6.5-inch external display when the phone is folded. The hinge on each Mi Mix Fold, which opens and closes like a book, has been tested over 1 million times, the company said in a tweet.
As for cameras, the phone features Xiaomi’s new Surge C1 Image Signal Processor, which the company said is “optimized for professional photography” and uses liquid lens technology. This allows the camera to focus at a minimum distance of 3cm, then switch to 3X optical zoom and up to 30X telephoto, Xiaomi said. The Mi Mix Fold also has a 108-megapixel main camera and 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, as well as a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Mi Mix Fold also includes a Snapdragon 888 processor, a Harman Kardon quad-speaker setup, a 5,020mAh double-cell battery and speedy 67W charging support. It will come in a standard edition as well as a ceramic special edition, which has a gold middle frame and a black ceramic back with laser engraving. The Mi Mix Fold starts at 9,999 yuan (around $1,520) for the 256GB version.
Preorders for the Mi Mix Fold open on Tuesday, but for now, the foldable phone will only be available in China. Xiaomi didn’t immediately respond to a request for information on when the Mi Mix Fold might come to more markets.
Xiaomi showed off the Mi Mix Fold just one day after, Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Lite 5G during a virtual event on Monday.
