Kenin vs Swiatek: An extraordinary final
In such unusual circumstances, it’s perhaps apt we have such an extraordinary final ahead of us.
Indeed, the unseeded 19-year-old Iga Swiatek has shocked the world on route to the final, yet to drop a set while demolishing No1 seed Simona Halep!
Swiatek is the first player from Poland to compete in a Slam final for 81 years!
However, in Sofia Kenin, she’s also facing a highly unusual opponent. Not only is her service action utterly bizarre, but you just never know what you’re going to get with the 21-year-old.
She’s needed the full three sets in three of her five matches at Roland Garros, and though losing the first set twice, she always manages to find a way.
Kenin burst onto the scene to claim a maiden Slam at the Australian Open, but after losing 6-0, 6-0 to Victoria Azarenka in Rome in September, a French Open final seemed unlikely.
It’s a highly unpredictable final, but one thing for certain is we’ll see a brand new French Open champion crowned.
